JAPAN, 1880’S SOFTCOVER GOOD+ JAPAN, 1880’S SOFTCOVER GOOD+ Tokyo, circa 1880, softcover, condition good+ to very good, 3 volumes, original wrappers with red paper labels, extremely collectible string ties in partial and loose condition, 40 plus wood block art work in each volume, Kono Bare (1844-1895) was born (as Yasuda Bare) and lived in Kyoto, In 1852 he studied with the Maruyama School painter, Nakajima Raisho (1796-1871), after Raisho’s death Bairei studied with the Shijo school master Shiokawa Bunrin (1808-1877), he opened an art school in 1880 and his students included Takeuchi Seiho, Kawai Gyokudo and Uemura Shoen, Bairei’s work included bird prints, flower prints and landscapes these are beautiful books with pages clean and vibrant, all text in japanese, extremely collectible, photos upon request
