New York: E. & H. T. Anthony & Co.. Very Good. Bright orange card with "Views in the Rocky Mountains - Dep't of Interior, U. S. Geological Survey of the Territories" stamp and title on front; publisher's imprint on verso. Negative number 133. Published c. 1870. Card has light wear to edges and moderate soiling on verso. This image depicts a scene in the Bad Lands of southwestern Wyoming. In 1870 Professor Ferdinand V. Hayden invited William H. Jackson to join the U. S. Geological and Geographical Survey of the Territories. For the next 8 years, Jackson took thousands of photographs and many stereograph images of the West, particularly in Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado. ; 4" x 7" .
