Wilfrid Cowley was a friend of C. Day Lewis from Oxford days and there is a further, if slightly more tenuous, Macspaunday connection in that he was senior English master at Bryanston School where Auden had at one time been intending to teach.Free endpapers tanned. Spine slightly darkened. Very good. No dustwrapper.
