White and orange lettering on the front cover and spine. A wonderful sample catalog of textile swatches for the home, from the textile manufacturer Backhausen. The catalog is comprised of a total of 105 textile samples (and variants) in a variety of colors, styles and patterns ranging from more simple geometric and floral designs to more complex and intricate patterns, all based on the classic designs from the modernist movements of Jugendstil, Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Many designs are based on orignal designs of the Wiener Werkstätte, with whom the company originally collaborated with in the early 20th century. Each sample is labeled on the back, showing the name, production id number and average width per fabric strip (usually 130 or 138cm). A printed index of swatches, organized based on the style types has been placed in a plastic sleeve on the interior front cover. Binding with some minor smudging to the covers. Binding and interior in overall near fine condition. Scarce. *Originally established in 1849, in Vienna, Backhausen has produced high end interior textiles for sale in Austria and around the world. Their work can be seen the interiors of many historic buildings in Vienna and throughout Austria. In the early 20th century the company worked to produce patterns designed by the famous Wiener Werkstätte.
