The Hague: The Bachstitz Gallery, 1921. Limited First edition. Hardcover. g- to vg. 1/300. Folio (17 1/2 x 14"). [10]pp (Text), 103 tissue-guarded leaves (Plates), as issued. Original 3/4 vellum over paper covered boards, with gold lettering to spine and front cover. Raised bands. Marbled endpapers.
Third volume of a three-volume set being a monumental photo-illustrated catalogue of the artworks contained at the Bachstitz Gallery, in The Hague, Netherlands.
The first volume was a catalogue of paintings and tapestries; The second volume, in German, was a catalogue of "Antike, byzantinische, islamische Arbeiten der Kleinkunst und des kunstgewerbes antike Skulpturen" (Antique, Byzantine, Islamic crafts, and antique sculptures).
This third volume is devoted to objects of arts and paintings. It is splendidly illustrated with no less than 103 full-page photogravures, all facing their captioned tissue-guards.
One of 300 copies, of which this is No. 128.
Moderate shelf wear. some soiling to covers and spine. Front endpaper slightly creased. Upper tip of pages slightly bumped (not affecting lettering or plates). Binding in overall good- to good, interior in very good condition.
