The binding of the book shows light to moderate wear. Prior owner's 20th century bookplate on the front pastedown. New endpapers. The text is a bit toned, and the title page and terminal leaf show heavier toning. The text is generally clean. Scarce. Henry Beaufoy (1750-1795) was a British Member of Parliament and was the son of a Quaker merchant (although after marriage he conformed to the Church of England). In April, 1791 he voted for abolition of the slave trade but revised his position towards gradual abolition in 1792.
