About This Item

New York: Saks & Co, 1906. Publisher’s string-bound wrappers; roughly 6 x 10”; small number and dated (1908) name stamp on the front wrapper; aside from a tiny puncture in the front wrapper and several leaves, very good or better; 85 pages. Each coat and hat is modeled by men and women, reproduced in color, followed by several offerings and color plates of boots, robes and gloves. Automobiles at that early date were little more than open motorized carriages, owned by the wealthy few who could afford such extravagances, which often required a chauffeur. This was the very definition of “the carriage trade.” At this time, Saks was located in Herald Square, moving up town when town moved up.
