About This Item
The British army officer and courtier Thomas Myddelton Biddulph (1809-1878) purchased commissions in various regiments of the army. Appointed Master of the Household to Queen Victoria in 1851, he was made an Extra Equerry to the Queen in 1854. Made a Knight Commander of the Civil Division of the Order of the Bath, Biddulph was knighted in 1863. He was appointed to various positions, including Keeper of the Privy Purse, Receiver-General of the Duchy of Cornwall, Private Secretary to the Sovereign, among others.
