Some rubbing to cover. Clean, unmarked pages. 238 pages : frontispiece, portraits ; 20 cm. "Amid this stream of abolitionist tirades are a few references to wartime hospitals at the front and behind the lines." - Nevins II, page 130. Lawrence was an ardent abolitionist and temperane worker. She labored as a nurse during the civil war and wrote this book to supplement her $12 monthly pension.
