London: Macmillan and Co, 1913. Hardcover. Near Fine. First English edition. Octavo. 647pp. Half leather with gilt ruled boards, gilt topedge, spine lettering, raised bands, and marbled endpapers. Front pastedown with the engraved bookplate of Moberly's House, one of the oldest boarding houses at Winchester College, featuring the image of an angel standing on a devil, and also the tiny ticket of London bookseller Hugh Rees on the rear pastedown. Near fine with neat ink gift inscription, rubbing at the edges and tiny ink splash mark at the edge of the read board affecting a couple page ends. A nicely rebound contemporary copy of the uncommon first English edition of Roosevelt's autobiography.
