Good. 8vo., brown cloth lettered in gilt, pp.460, frontispiece with tissue protector, Illustrated with wood engravings throughout text, plates from photographs, drawings -- Front & rear hinge cracked (still holding); overall binding is moderately stressed, missing front free endpapers. One loose illustrations between page 86 & 87. Moderate rubbing around the extremities. -- Signed in 188[?] by the author on the front paste down (see photo). Laid in loose is a postcard with photograph of the author, age 80 years. -- A revised edition of the book was re-published in 1908 after a fire damaged the original printing plates. Rare signed copy of the author's first book. "Andrew Taylor Still, DO was the founder of osteopathy and osteopathic medicine. He was also a physician and surgeon, author, inventor and Kansas territorial and state legislator. In 1899, Still published his second book, Philosophy of Osteopathy. Still published his third book, The Philosophy and Mechanical Principles of Osteopathy, with publication date 1902, and copyright date 1892. He published Osteopathy Research and Practice, his fourth and final book in 1910".-wikipedia.
