Philadelphia: J.B. Lippincott & Co, 1861. Decorative Cloth. Very Good +. An exceptionally bright copy of the 1861 1st edition. Tight and VG+ in its bevelled dark-green cloth, with crisp, completely unflecked gilt-titling and insignia along the spine. Light foxing at the pastedowns and endsheets, faint staining to the front inner hinge (and continuing very lightly thru the preliminaries). 15 fold-out plates (all intact and very clean, except the frontispiece plate, the left half of which has been neatly excised) and 77 additional plates thruout the text. Thick 64mo, 450 pgs. plus Lippincott's list of recent publications ("McClellan's Bayonet Exercises", etc.) at the rear.
