About This Item
Canberra: News Limited Group, 1964. 1st Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine. 235 x 310 mm, [48 pp]. Large format Hard Cover volume. The Australian newspaper celebrates its 60th birthday this year and this is the book that was issued in 1964 that tells the story of the vision, planning and development of the national daily that launched in October that year, with black & white and single-color-toned images throughout and printed on coated stock.Rupert Murdoch's With Compliments card is loosely inserted at the front of the volume. Small areas of matching discoloration on the card and also on the front endpaper and mylar sleeve show that the card was once taped there. The book covers all aspects of the paper from planning to production with notes on staff and contributors and the scope of ithe newspaper's coverage. This copy is very well preserved, showing a little age toning at the edges but otherwise in great collectable condition.
