The text is illustrated with both colour and black- and white illustrations and black and white photography. Maps of where to find the birds are also supplied. Green coloured cloth covered boards with black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. This book was first published in 1911 and this seventh, revised and enlarged edition. A Field guide to Australian birds, giving habitats, ranges and identification hints. This book is showing age and use. Softening, rubbing and a little fraying of the back strip edges and book corners. Rubbing of the lower book edges. Flecking, rubbing and stains to the panels, the rear panel particularly affected. Browning of the endpages with the results of insects to be seen on the free front end page. The coloured illustration between page 18 / 19 has become loose, and the edge is a little creased and chipped. Uniform tanning of the text block edges and pages. Faint foxing throughout. fading of the backstrip. The front panel of the dustwrapper has been fixed to the free front end page.
