Acceptable. 0x0x0. 1872 first edition Roberts Brothers (Boston, Massachusetts), 4 3/4 x 6 3/4 inches tall embossed blue cloth hardcover, no dust jacket, gilt design and lettering to spine, brown endpapers, illustrated with two full-page engraved frontispieces, [12] 215 pp. Slight to moderate soiling, rubbing and edgewear to covers, with bumping and fraying to tips and creasing to spine. Slight to moderate soiling, creasing and occasional stains throughout. Despite all these detractions, still a complete, solidly bound copy of this important first edition. ~O~ [1.5P] According to OCLC, there is a possibility that the London (Sampson Low) edition was issued before this Boston edition. Aunt Joâs Scrap-Bag is a collection of short stories (this is the first what was to be six volumes), mostly for children, that Louisa wrote in the 1880s (including stories from her grand tour of Europe with younger sister May). The stories in this volume: My Boys, Tessaâs Surprises, Buzz, The Childrenâs Joke, Dandelion, Madam Cluck and Her Family, A Curious Call, Tillyâs Christmas, My Little Gentleman, Back Windows, Little Marie of Lehon, My May-Day Among Curious Birds and Beasts, Our Little Newsboy, Pattyâs Patchwork.
