Vintage auction sale catalogue from Christie's of London who were privileged to offer for sale this superb and internationally important scientific instrument. The catalogue is in excellent condition and appears unread. 30 pages, fully illustrated in colour and monochrome and including notes on the original owner and maker. Provenance : the private collection of the author, the late Professor Gerald L'Estrange Turner. Professor Turner was Curator of the Museum of the History of Science, a world-renowned expert on early scientific instruments, and author of many specialist books and articles. Very unusual. The astrolabe sold for in excess of £500,000 (almost $700,000US).
