Collectible 1st edition in French, 1970, Very Good condition. From the beloved series "The Adventures of Asterix" which follows the exploits of a village of ancient Gauls as they resist Roman occupation. The 16th volume finds Asterix and Obelix set in Helvetia, the name for Switzerland in ancient times. The satire contains several puns on typical Swiss features, such as the he comic contains several puns on typical Swiss features, such as the confidentiality and high level of security of Swiss banks, fondue, Swiss clocks (especially cuckoo clocks), the Helvetians' insistence on neutrality, yodeling, punctuality, alphorns and the Swiss Federal Assembly. The comic suggests that modern mountain climbing was introduced when Asterix has the idea of him, Obelix and their Helvetian aides securing themselves with ropes, and sledding when Asterix accidentally rides Obelix down the mountainside.
