London: Dent, 1976. Hardcover. Translation by Eugene Mason. Introduction by Gwyn Jones. 12mo. Blue paper over boards with gilt spine lettering, pictorial dust jacket. xv, 264pp, (4pp ads). Near fine/very good. Jacket rubbed, with spine a tad sunned; ownership name/address on front pastedown. Attractive and tight later printing of volume 578 in the "Everyman's Library" series (first published 1912). Two of the three earliest significant renditions of the Arthurian tales -- notes jacket text, "Wace was one of the first to use the matter in verse form... Layamon followed Wace....
