About This Item

Weidenfeld & Nicolson, London - first edition ISBN:0297815857 1996 Hardcover, 6½" x 9½", and dust jacket Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, etc. VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket Fifty b&w photographs, A Rubinstein discography, notes on the sources, bibliography, and index. After a formal debut in Berlin aged thirteen, Arthur Rubinstein was before long neglecting the keyboard to enjoy the good life. He established an international reputation as an excellent pianist, but it was not until he was fifty did the musical world recognise him as one of the great masters of the piano. Rubinson's gift was that he dedicated himself to discovering the individuality of each piece he performed.
