Hardcover. vg. 1/355. 118pp. Three-quarter bronze floral decorated brown leather over brown burlap, gold lettering on spine. Unique color mottled/marbled endpapers. Forepage edges untrimmed as issued. The first English language translation of 'Art de Le Papier' by Joseph Jerome La Francais de Lalande, Paris 1761. Illustrated with 4 large engravings, one folded, "showing the entire process of making paper; from the sorting and cutting of the linen and cotton rags to the wrapping and packing of the finished paper. One hundred and fifty pages of text are devoted to a description of the plates and to the art of paper-making in general. Signed by the paper-maker and publisher, Ian O'Casey on the colophon. Publication announcement brochure and a publication letter on Dawson's Bookshop's letterhead both laid-in. Scuffed to top of spine. Text block is slightly warped. Binding bent. Third of the way down leather shows rippling to inside of back board. Overall binding in good, interior in near fine condition.
