About This Item

London: Faber & Faber, 1938. Second Printing of Second Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good+/Very Good. E. McKnight Kauffer. Small 8vo. Pp. 160. Illustrated with 128 black & white halftone photo reproductions on coated paper. Black cloth, titles stamped in red and white on the spine, printed on heavy paper: moderate wear/foxing to edges, offsetting to endpapers, leaves crisp and binding tight. Bookseller tag on front endpaper "F. W. Preece Ltd. Adelaide." In the two-color illustrated dust jacket, price clipped, "Third Impression reissue at a lower price." Light edge-wear, with spine color minimally sunned. From the jacket blurb: "Both from the aesthetic and psychological points of view, this is the best exposition of contemporary art, including Surrealism." In a bold E. McKnight Kauffer dust jacket, a vibrant example of his mid-career style. Dust jacket is now preserved in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
