About This Item

Venice, Italy: Armenian Monastery of St. Lazarus, 1875. First edition. softcover . Good. Thick Duodecimo (smaller than standard). Creme paper covers with text and decoration on front cover, decoration on rear cover. Third part of the author's Armenian History in a second volume. Wear to corners and edges of covers, with a 2 inch long tear at hinge of lower front cover Light foxing to pages. 387 p. w/ index. An uncommon work on Armenia and its history, after the Geography and General History in vol 1 and leaving Literature for a third volume that does not appear to have seen the press. For over 30 years Issaverdens published a number of books in English regarding the history, language, and places of Armenia and the Armenian Church. Based at the monastery, it is clear the resources there helped greatly in his research. A second editon of the three extant parts was published in 1878.
