About This Item
Ancient world 3790a (Aristophanes)Croiset, Maurice. Aristophanes and the Political Parties at Athens. Translated by James Loeb. London: Macmillan, 1909, 192 pages, index. There is a preface by the author as well as an introduction to the English translation by John Williams White of Harvard University. Nicely produced in blue cloth and gilt lettering on the spine. Very attractive book, has some German pencilling in margins of some pages, in small hand. They are obviously notes on what the English words mean. The signature of a well-known classical scholar on front free endpaper. He taught in Germany for a while and maybe bought the book there. $21.50
