First Edition in original unclipped dust jacket. Author's first book with his inscription and SIGNED on front free endpaper: "To Mrs. Forsythe with very best wishes from Guy, 10-11-61." Black cloth boards are clean with gold lettering on spine. No bumping or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Some foxing to endpapers, text block edges; all text pages are clean. 252 pages. Dust jacket has slight edge wear, a few short closed edge tears, soft vertical crease to front panel, not price clipped; enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. A novel set in an English public school. His theme is the conflict between individuals and the institution. A serious and absorbing story, whose implications carry well beyond the small world in which it takes place..
