Important Czech monograph on the design of swimming pools and related bathing facilities, including locker and bathing areas. Illustrated with photographs of the facilities, drawings of plans for filtration systems, slides, diving platforms, photos of thermal baths, various international spas, beaches, indoor pools with viewing stands such as those at Madison Square Garden, Harvard University, and others.

Václav Kolátor (1899-1983) was a swimmer and architect famous for pioneering the field of swimming pool and bathing facility architecture in the interwar period. From 1929 onward, he worked for the building authority of Prague; his most famous project was an Olympic-sized swimming pool on the terraces below the Barrandov film studios, and he went on to construct a series of similar facilities throughout Czechoslovakia. Kolátor was associated with the functionalist circle around the journal "Stavba" (Construction). The present work, co-authored with Alexander Hofbauer (1896-1953), another proponent of swimming in interwar Czechoslovakia and editor of a swimming journal.

Includes a six-page bibliography on the topoic separated by countries.
