In 1915, Philby was called by the Foreign and Political Department in Mesopotamia to worked with Sir Percy Cox in the building of what was to become modern Iraq. This was the first full-length biography of Ibn Sa'ud who united Arabia and once the vast limitless reserves of oil were discovered made it a leading power in Middle Eastern politics. Also here are intimate details of court life, fasting, political problems, leisure hours, and the pilgrimage to Mecca. Bound in black cloth, spine lettering gilt, three corners bumped, A very good copy in a clipped, edge worn and chipped pictorial dust jacket.
