About This Item
1666 Aphthonius of Antioch GREEK Philosophy Progymnasmata Atticism Rhetoric
Aphthonius of Antioch was a classical Greek rhetorician who is primarily remembered today for his sophist literary movement of 'Atticism'. Aphthonius wrote a book called 'Progymnasmata' which described and defended Atticism, or the ancient Greek literary style, as opposed to the more 'modern' approaches to Greek of Plutarch and Josephus.
This 1666 Latin edition of 'Progymnasmata' was published in Caen, France.
