Hardcover. 8vo, 21.2cm, xii,377, [7,1]pp., complete with 24 steel engraved plates, index, in half black roan, wide gilt ruled raised bands, gilt spine titles, marbled boards and endpapers, spine & corners rubbed, loan library stamp on verso of half title, upper corner of title page expertly repaired, some browning or toning to the preliminaries leaves, a very good copy (ds1). One of the earliest histories of the great London legal society dating from the end of the 13th century. William Herbert (1771 1851) was a London antiquary and librarian. With a graphic collection of steel engraved views of the various Inns of Court.
