New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1964. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo. Orange cloth boards with black stamped lettering to spine, gilt device to boards. Top edge red. Patterned endpapers. vii, [6], 379 p.p. Light rubbing to spine ends and corners, a little foxing to fore edge. Text clean. Dust jacket lightly soiled to joints and edges, closed perforation to upper spine, and upper front cover, a few short tears, damp staining to spine. Price stamp to head of flyleaf, crease to upper corner of FFEP. The literature of Islam, beginning with the Koran, is a religious literature which encompasses countless mystics, poets, storytellers, autobiographers, fantasts, and writers of tales and proverbs. The more than 40 selections which are included in this anthology reflect for the first time the enormous breadth and depth of the imaginative vision of Islam.
