Albany and New York: Wynkoop Hallenbeck Crawford Co., 1897. Good condition. A solid reading/reference copy. Bound in the original green cloth. One small nick to front cover. Top margin (only) of several pages lightly water-stained [text is NOT affected]. A few of the folding maps were printed on poor quality paper, and so are brittle and have tears. However, most maps, charts and photos are in Very Good or better condition. Inner hinges are perfectly sound. Previous owner's name on endpaper. Numerous illustrations and many folding maps. Report on the development and maintenance of New York State Public Works, primarily canals, dams, portage projects, and flood planning. There is much about improvements to the Champlain, Oswego, and Erie canals, etc. Included are 8 full-page photos of the Shinnecock and Peconic Canal. There is another section containing 70 full-page photos, e. g. views of Mount Morris Canyon; Main Street Rochester as it appeared in 1865; Erie Canal Aqueduct as it appeared in the 1865 flood, five other Rochester scenes during the 1865 flood; photos of flood scenes in 1893, 1894, and 1896; views of the Village of Fillmore and Genesee River; several shots of the Upper, Middle, and Lower Falls at Portage; five photos of Furens Dam; 11 shots of Vyrnwy Dam and vicinity; 6 photos of the Dam at Lake Thurmere; etc. This is a heavy book that will be sent by MEDIA MAIL. Priority and International shipment are also available, but ONLY by special arrangement, and at significantly greater cost. . First Edition. Oversize Hardcover -very heavy. Good condition. 8vo. 863pp.
