Tears to spine ends. xv, 390 pages, plates : map, illustrations, plans (some color). Clean, unmarked pages. Viollet-le-Duc was a noted 19th century French Gothic-revival architect. He served in the defense of Paris during the Franco-Prussian War. This book is the English translation of Histoire d'une Forteresse; a military history of Le Roche-Pont, an imaginary castle set in a detailed historical setting. An interesting and accessible work.
