[4] lacks all before title page (seemingly published as a pamphlet with paper covers, 40, title page dust-stained, small ink stain on final page, generally clean and well-preserved. Rebound in recent half calf with marbled boards, gilt titles. This edition with the price (1s 6d) at the foot of the title page. One of several editions published in this year, this without an English translation presumed earlier. He was an imitator of Swift and Pope and went into politics as MP for Much Wenlock (1744-54). Died in Bloomsbury Square in 1760 after having "drunk hard for thirty years" according to Dr Johnson. Text in Latin only. Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Book.
