New York: Selmar Hess, Publisher. Wraps. Good. no date, presumed 1880s. Blue printed wraps. Pagination runs 597-628. Black and white plate of an elephant at the front, with black and white illustrations of tapirs, varks, and other animals throughout. A single part (#20) of this work that is often found as a complete bound volume, presumably originally issued in parts as this. With sections on the elephant, rhinoceros, vark and tapirs, etc. GOOD condition. Heavy offsetting along the wrappers' extremities, with dampstaining along the spine and top edge. Wrappers splitting along the spine. Minor soiling, fading and toning. Faint owner's stamp on the lower front cover. Minor toning in the interior, with faint dampstaining at the top.
