It includes all the known Roman and German rulers such as Charlemagne, Otto the Great, Charles V, Constantine, Julius Caesar, Nero, and Augustus Caesar.

1622 1ed MARTIAL Epigrams Roman Poetry Natural History Xenia Apophoreta Douay"I live in a little cell, with a window that won't even close,
In which Boreas himself would not want to live."
– Martial, Epigrams
Martial was a 1st-century Roman poet from Spain most-known for his 'Epigrams.' This important, early piece of Roman literature expresses details of life in Rome focusing in on the brutal daily life during the Roman Empire. Martial describes living conditions of Rome, corrupt physicians and senators, cruel treatment of slaves, and secrets and rumors of emperors. Because of the style of Martial's writing, he is often considered the first insult comic, as he used humor to disguise his disdain for the life with which he was so familiar.
This 1622 was published in Douay, France by Belleri. Collected and edited by Matthew Roeder. This particular volume includes Martial's "Xenia" and "Apophoreta" which is Martial's perspective on natural history.

Description:
The War with CatilineSallust
Translated by John C. Rolfe
The War with Catiline, also known as the Catiline (Latin: De coniuratione Catilinae or Bellum Catilinae) is the first story published by the Roman historian Salustius. It is a chronicle of the attempt to overthrow the Roman rule taken by Catiline in 63 BC, probably written between 44 and 40 BC, 20 years after the events described. The story begins with a short introduction about the nature of man, history, and the short autobiography of Salustius himself. Later, the historian describes Catiline himself and presents his political ambitions. According to Salustius, Catiline is an enemy of law, order, and morality. It is a model of all the behaviors that the writer considers to be disastrous for Rome.

The first proper fortifications in Japan began to develop with the appearance of the first emperors around 250. Although initially fortifications were simply wooden constructions, as internal strife became a way of life in Japan, more and increasingly elaborate fortifications were built. By the mid-16th century elaborate and beautiful traditional stone castles were wide spread. At the same time, rivalries between different monastic orders led to the development of fortified Buddhist temples and monasteries until the suppression of the warrior monks under Tokugawa Ieyasu. The 19th century saw the development of European-style forts, and the strengthening of costial defences against incursions by the West.… Read More
