Tegg. 1816. 14.5cm, first abridged edition, xvi, 80p., frontis engraving, title-page vignette, 20 text wood-cuts, appendix, glossary, marbled endpapers & leaf endings, dark green blind-stamped cloth, gilt spine title, fine. Westwood & Satchell p187. An exceptionally fine copy of Salter's juvenile version of "The Angler's Guide, or Complete London Angler." (1814). A popular text, the book went through five editions by 1841. Published "to enable the fishing-tackle dealers to sell at a small price to the novice in angling" (Preface) The frontis is illustrations are of hooks baited for trolling. Includes a list of principal English rivers with the various kind of fish which they contain and a glossary of technical terms used in angling. Very scarce.
