A title in the publishe's "Classics of Science Fiction" series. This reissue of the original 1893 printing contains a new introduction by Sam Moskowitz. 393 pp. Illustrations by Fred T. Jane. Griffith's most famous book, it first appeared in Pearson's Weekly magazine. A mixture of futuristic airship warfare, utopian visions, and future war invasion literature. Led by a crippled Russian and his daughter Natasha, a group of self-styled "terrorists" conquor the Earth (and particularly Czarist Russia) through the use of airships. It's sequel "Olga Romanoff or The Syren of the Skies" would be published the following year.
