In original paper wrappers (vol. 4 also has a glassine wrapper). Covers on vols. 1-3 are a bit dark, and the bottoms of the spines are a touch ragged. Embrowning on some leaves but otherwise in good condition. Many illustrations and tables. Former owner's name written on the front covers of the first three volumes.

Marie Ambroise Paulin Oilleaux Désormeaux was a professor of mechanics, an author of technical manuals published by la librairie encyclopédiques de Roret, and editor of Bulletin des lois de la République française (1832) and Journal des ateliers (1830). He was the author and compiler of the second book in French on figure skating: Patinage et récréations sur la glace en traîneaux russes, hollandais et français, montagnes russes... Précédé de considérations hygiéniques par une réunion d'amateur (1853).
