SYNOPSIS: America's Hidden Wilderness: Lands of Seclusion is one of many quality books published by the Special Publications Division of the National Geographic Society. This book is a sampler of seven wilderness areas in North America. The seven secluded places are as follows: Baxter State Park in Maine, the Lacandon Jungle in Mexico, the Grand Gulch Primitive Area in Utah, the Great Burn area of the Idaho-Montana border, the Arctic Wildlife Refuge in Alaska/Northern Yukon National Park in Canada, the Eastern Mojave Scenic Area in California, and the Clearwater River in Quebec; this panorama includes woodland, tropical rain forest, canyon, mountain, tundra, desert, and river areas, respectively. The fourteen authors and photographers who contributed to this book have done an excellent job of developing the themes of the wilderness, seclusion, and isolation. Each chapter has a detailed map of the said wilderness area. The stunning photographs and descriptive narrative make this a truly great book about some of the last wilderness areas left in North America. Highly recommended. Quantity Available: 1.
