Straight and firm, hinges starting, binding shaken at a few points internally, spine-end and corner wear, faint evidence of child-scrawl to a few pages, some small marks to boards and backstrip, spine titles faded, textblock edges darkened, three short closed edge tears to pages, a few wrinkled page corners. A collection of stories and observations from the beloved author of Three Men in a Boat and Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow dealing with such varied subjects as American Girls and Wives, Russians, Babies, Wagnerian Stage Manners, Heroes, Heroines, The Dutch, Big Cities, and Waiters. Profusely illlustrated throughout with drawings by George McManus.
