Boston and New York: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1931. This edition consists of 385 numbered copies autographed by the author, of which this is number 373. [10], 32, [2] leaves. Uncut and unopened in original publisher's blue cloth-backed grey paper boards, lettered in gilt. Without glassine wrapper or slipcase. A trifle rubbed and bumped. Internally clean and crisp. Inked gift inscription beneath limitation statement: 'and is for / Daisy Kennedy / with the author's / dear love / January 1931'. The first edition of poet and playwright John Drinkwater's (1882-1937) poems on the American Civil War. The present copy was inscribed by Drinkwater to his future wife, Australian-born concert violinist Daisy Kennedy (1893-1981). . First edition. Quarto.
