About This Item
New York: The Review of Reviews Corporation, 1929. Paperback. (Vol. LXXIX, No. 1). Small 4to. Stiff green wrappers. 178pp. Numerous illustrations and advertisements, including color rear cover ad for "Lucky Strike" cigarettes featuring baseball player Waite C. Hoyt. Very good. Minor shelfwear and soiling -- overall tight and attractive. Contents include Nicholas Roosevelt's "The Pacific Era Begins," Agnes C. Laut's "Why the Coast Is Optimistic," Allan Nevins' "Eighty Years of History," Paul Shoup's "Resources of the Western Slope" and John F. Sinclair's "Some Builders of Prosperity." Discrete ex-library, the only markings being a couple of slight inkstampings. Editor-journalist-historian Shaw (born 1857) founded this long-running monthly in 1891, and it pursued a broad agenda covering U.S. and world political, economic and social issues for decades.
