About This Item
Leather Bound. Good. [FIRST EDITION] New York: American Protestant Society, (1845). Hardcover in 3/4 leather and marbled boards. 9 x 6 inches; 384, 30, 32 pages with wood-block engravings throughout. Listed in Billington's 'Tentative Bibliography of Anti-Catholic Propaganda' (and given the title page image of the Pope as well as other religious leaders drowning in the sea of Truth, it probably deserves the inclusion.) Bound together with: Rev. Joseph F. Berg, D.D., "A Lecture; Delivered in the Musical Fund Hall, On Tuesday Evening, November 26, 1850, In Answer to Archbishop Hughes on the Decline of Protestantism; Rev. N. Murry, D.D., The Decline of Popery and Its Causes, An Address Delivered to The Broadway Tabernacle on Wednesday Evening, January 15, 1851. Some wear and scuffing of leather and boards but still a sound copy of this rarely found title. Leather title label with center chip; light to moderate foxing, age-toning, staining, etc. Uncollated and potentially missing an unpaginated engraving or two (?) but otherwise complete.
