DJ: Very Good +; Price Clipped; light wear to head, tail, and tips; closed tear at bottom of front panel; slight suntoning to spine. Blue cloth boards and spine with bright gilt lettering to the spine and front board. Maps as endpapers. Clean interior. Inner hinges are sound and not split. 1348 pp 8vo. The idea for a guide-book for the entire United States goes back to the early days of the Federal Writer's Project. When government and private funding could not be obtained, Hastings House came forward and decided to back the book. The Guide divides the country into eight regions: New England, Middle Atlantic States, Lake States, Plains States, South, Southwest, Mountain States, and West Coast. Each region is described separately and is prefaced by a general survey. Within each region each state is described by tours within that state. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
