Contains accounts of the inspiration and history of 25 great popular songs, including Yankee Doodle, Columbia the Gem of the Ocean, Star Spangled Banner, John Browns Body, Battle Hymn of the Republic, Dixie, and the song "Hail Columbia" by Joseph Hopkinson at page 67. Up until the 1890s "Hail Columbia" was played as the de facto national anthem of the United States.. First Edition. Decorative Cloth. Near Fine/No Jacket, As Issued. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
