About This Item

New York: T. Spencer Hutson & Company, 1929. First printing A statement in the book says that 75 copies of this volume were printed and contain an original print, of which 70 were offered for sale. This printing is not that limited edition. 4to size hardcover; contains 11 prints, unnumbered pages, about 30. Printed on ivory colored laid paper with black and white etchings tipped in. The reverso is blank and the prints are suitable for framing if desired. Various sizes etchings are laid in averaging about 8.5 inches. Each etching is clearly marked in small type with the word REPRO. Beneath the etching in what appears to be tiny penciled handwriting, is the title of the etching and who owned it (at the time) the book was printed. With an Appreciation by James C. McGuire, underneath that is a brief biography of the artist. (Frederick) Childe Hassam (1859 - 1935) was a prolific American Impressionist artist with more than 3,000 etchings, lithographs and paintings to his credit. Ex-library with typical treatments. Worn corners. 8.5 inch section of exterior spine missing. Rough area on front cover underneath title block. We noted that two blank pages have a rough or torn area, please see our last photograph.
