Contains 'The Debt of the American Colonization Society,' 'Anti-Slavery in the Great Valley,' 'Letters from the South-West to A. Tappan,' and 'To Southern Christians.' Stapled. Chopped, with minor loss of text on fore-edge. Medium stains. The American Anti-Slavery Society was a passionate group (at one time numbering around 250,000 members) that was in part a reaction to the American Colonization Society's aims to send emancipated slaves to the newly established African colony of Liberia instead of encouraging their integration into American society. This edition of their early periodical was printed one year after the Society's founding..
