About This Item
Atlantic Books, London, 2004. 1st edition. Paper covers. V.g./No Jacket. Written in somewhat breathless journalese, this gives an account of the fruitless search for the original Amber Room which was taken as war booty by the Nazis from St Petersburg and (probably) destroyed by allied bombing of Königsberg. A host of dodgy characters populate this 'true crime' story, and the journalists' account of coping with Russian bureaucracy rings all too true even today.
