About This Item

Melbourne: Text Publishing, 2018. New ed.. Paperback octavo, very good condition, bottom corner tip front cover little creased, slight bump top spine, minor edgewear. 312 pp. This is the memoir of Sisonke Msimang who was born in exile, the daughter of South African freedom fighters. This is her story of her journey from Africa to America and back again, then on to a new home in Australia. The story is frank, fierce and insightful. She reflects candidly on growing up an outsider, the naive heady euphoria of returning at last to her parental homeland, and her disillusionment with present-day South Africa. Sisonke is a bold new voice on feminism, race and politics - in her beloved South Africa, in Australia, and around the world.
