About This Item

Harper & Brothers, 1892. First. Hardcover. Good. Small, 4x6, hardback. First edition. Please note, this is NOT a reprint as this book was published in 1892. Olive-green cloth boards, with gilt title and interesting, Celtic-like, design. Faded gilt on darkened spine cloth. Faded gilt staining on top of text block. Faded and lightly stained boards, with some soiling. Wearing to heel of spine and board edges. Slightly cocked. Gift inscription dated 1892 on FEP. Section sewn, and, while all pages are attached, we have opted to not open this book all the way, so as to maintain the integrity of the binding as it stands now. We have opened it just enough to observe pages. Age-toned pages Deckled page edges have dings here and there. Foxing observed only on a few pages. Along New England Roads was the second to last published work by William Cowper Prime. Prime led a very interesting life and was well known for documenting and publishing tales of his travels, especially those taken to the Holy Land and Egypt in the mid 1850's. Not only was he a traveler, he was an attorney and art historian. For many years, he co-owned a 650 acre piece of property in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. 199pps.
