About This Item
(Cape Town: South African Library, 1984). Number 4 in the South African Library General Series. 220 x 133 mm; saddle-stitched green wrappers; pp. x + 37; line drawings. Slightest curl to edges of wrappers; occasional fox spot. Very good condition. Text in Dutch, with English translation. "This little book contains the complete text of a Dutch manuscript in the Von Dessin Collection of the South African Library, with an English translation. The manuscript ... is divided according to the months of the year, giving information on a variety of topics which are of importance to the gardener and the farmer, such as the type of weather which may be expected at the Cape in a particular month, the best time for the cultivation of vegetables and agricultural crops and the grafting and pruning of fruit trees and vineyards. In between there are notes which apparently related to the writer's own activities." .
